AEC Sdn.Bhd went to demonstrate how the Panasonic Inverter fare against the non inverter. Two current measuring meters were mounted to detect the current consumption on two types of Panasonic air conditioners of similar capacity.
The first video show an non inverter unit. The current consumption is indicated at 9.5 Amp. The second video show an inverter in action.
The current consumption is indicated at around 6 Amp on the meter. If you multiply the savings by 30 days over a year, that is quite a fair bit of savings. Brunei Darussalam may have cheap power now but things may changed in the next few years as Brunei has signed an agreement with Sarawak to purchase 400 units of megawatts from the Bakun dam. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on July 12, 2009 Brunei Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Sri Setia Awang Lim Jock Seng with the Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management, Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

The whole organization has been restructured from top to bottom. New strategies have been designed and implemented in stages throughout the year for 2009 and beyond. New thinking and ideas are brought in from outside. Professor Emeritus Bury (from Ohio, USA) and Professor Dr. Chong (adjunct professor of ANU) were brought in to train, motivate and advise both the management and teams at AEC Sdn.Bhd.
Things that have changed at the new AEC premises
AEC physical layout of the plant is divided into parts, administration and service and marketing departments. In the centre of the building is the administration department, where you will be met by smiling well trained sales and administrative staff, who are ever ready to serve you the moment you step into AEC office. The office is an open plan layout, reflecting transparency, honesty and good house keeping.
The servicing department is also designed along the 5 S system of making sure that everything is in place. Technicians are disciplined to be cleaned, neat and tidy, both personally and in carrying out their tasks. The management spare no expense in getting the right tools for the jobs. They used original tools and equipment specially imported in from Germany to ensure jobs get done without any delay.
The marketing department has engaged in top sales people. Professor Dr.Chong will be coming in to train and coach the marketing team in 2009. You will see new ideas being put into place, with more benefits for the consumers in Brunei Darussalam.
